Position Summary
The full-time Imam will play a pivotal role in leading the spiritual, educational, and social dimensions of the IANL community. This role requires a visionary leader who can inspire and unify, combining scholarly excellence with a passion for community service. The imam will work alongside an existing full-time imam, other supporting staff and a pool of dedicated volunteers at IANL to achieve our goals and objectives together
Key Responsibilities
The following areas outline the major responsibilities fulfilled by our imaamat department. Each imam
will take ownership of some of the responsibilities listed below by prior agreement:
1. Islamic Leadership & Educational Excellence

Lead daily congregational prayers and deliver inspirational khutbahs at Jumu’ah and Eid prayers.

Organise and oversee Ramadan programs, including Tarawih, Qiyaam, and educational sessions.

Develop and deliver structured courses on Islamic sciences such as Fiqh, Hadith, and Tafsir.

Facilitate Halaqahs, Quran classes, Arabic language and other learning programs for diverse
demographics. -
Formulate a long-term strategy for IANL’s educational outreach.
2. Counselling and Guidance

Offer spiritual guidance services, addressing personal and family matters.

Support reverts with tailored guidance.
3. Community Engagement & Youth Empowerment
-
Occasionally represent IANL in interfaith dialogues and public events to foster understanding,
collaboration and a means of da’wah. -
Engage with youth through mentorship programs, recreational activities, and Islamic
discussions. -
Support charity initiatives and outreach programs for vulnerable groups.

Seek feedback from the community on services and ideas for religious services.

Strategising to assess how IANL can benefit the community and beyond in line with Islamic
teachings.
4. Organisational Contributions
-
Collaborate with trustees and working groups to strategise and enhance mosque operations
ensuring alignment with Islamic values. -
Engage the community to encourage broad participation and volunteering in events and services.

Contribute to IANL’s ongoing redevelopment project, ensuring alignment with community needs
and aspirations. -
Develop creative initiatives such as podcasts, workshops, and digital outreach to expand IANL’s
impact. -
Support fundraising efforts to ensure IANL’s sustainability and growth.
5. External Relations & Outreach

Strengthen relationships with local schools, councils, and organisations through educational visits
and partnerships. -
Establish relationships with other Muslim religious leaders and organisations to assist in delivery
of IANL’s religious services. -
Act as an ambassador for IANL’s values in media appearances and social platforms.
Qualifications and Experience
-
Advanced Islamic education from a reputable institution locally or abroad (e.g., Al-Azhar,
University of Madinah, or equivalent). -
Fluent in English and Arabic with excellent communication skills.

Experience in community leadership, conflict resolution, and strategic planning.

Deep knowledge of Islamic sciences and contemporary challenges facing Muslim communities
including those at the national level. -
Demonstrated ability to inspire youth and diverse audiences.
Familiarity with UK laws and cultural dynamics is advantageous.
