Information Evening — Thursday 24 September

Thinking about Scouting for your child? Come along and find out what our Scout Group does, and what we are hoping to add next.

We currently run Scouts for boys and girls aged 10.5–14, and we want to open Cubs (ages 8–10.5) and Explorers (ages 14–18).

When: Thursday 24 September, 7:30pm

Meet the Scout Leaders, hear how the group runs, and ask any questions you have. No registration needed — just come along.

If you are 18 or over and could give some of your time to help, we would be glad to speak with you on the night too.

Although Scouting was first started in the UK, it has become big in the Muslim world during the years that followed. Nearly every Muslim country has a Scouting movement and the Muslim countries contribute some of the largest numbers to the overall international Scouting community.

Muslim Faith-Based Scouting Groups

In the UK, the growth of Muslim faith-based Scout groups has been supported by the Muslim Scout Fellowship since their formation over 25 years ago.

Empowering Youth, Nurturing Faith: Scouting at IANL

Here at IANL, we are passionate about the development of our youth so that they gain the life skills required to achieve their full potential in society whilst embedding Islamic values into how they behave. The purpose of Scouting is therefore aligned to our strategy as a key pillar of youth development supplementing the Islamic education available at IANL and the academic education provided by traditional education mechanisms.

Scouts define their purpose as:

Scout Age Groups

Scouts operate with groups that match different age groups as set out below:

• Squirrels – ages 4 to 6
• Beavers – ages 6 to 8
• Cubs – ages 8 to 10.5
• Scouts – ages 10.5 to 14
• Explorers – ages 14 to 18
• Network – ages 18 to 25

Open for Boys and Girls

We run Scout groups for both boys and girls aged 10.5–14. The boys’ and girls’ groups are run separately, and we aim to provide the same opportunities to both wherever possible.

When: Every Thursday from 7:15pm – 9pm

Would you like to help?

Our Scout Group only runs thanks to the brothers and sisters who give their time — and growing it depends on more people coming forward.

We would like to open Cubs (ages 8–10.5) and Explorers (ages 14–18), but we can only do so with enough leaders. Alhamdulillah we now have a good number of sisters volunteering, so our most pressing need is brothers to help run the boys’ groups.

If you are over 18 and would like to help, no Scouting experience is needed — full training and support are provided. Come to our Information Evening on Thursday 24 September at 7:30pm (Top Floor), or email scouts@ianl.org.uk.
