Classes and Activities Cancelled

In light of the current situation regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) IANL has taken the decision to suspend IANL Academy, adult classes, youth and sisters’ activities until further notice.  This decision has not been taken lightly, and has been made with the best interests and health of the Muslim community in Finchley at heart.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We pray that Allah protects us all, and grants us strong imaan and health during this period – Ameen.

Guidance for Jummah and Congregational Prayers

Please refrain from attending Jummah and Congregational prayers if you are:

  • Someone who has flu symptoms, even if minor

  • Someone who has been around an individual with flu symptoms, even if minor

  • Someone in an area where the authorities have temporarily banned public gatherings and one’s congregation/mosque would fall under the ban, in which case it is obligatory to follow the advice of the government until further notice

  • Someone in a local area where there are confirmed cases of coronavirus and evidence of community spread

  • Someone who fits the description of those who the authorities have advised to enter self isolation, including people who have recently visited countries where the risk of coronavirus is high (China, Italy, Iran, Japan, Spain, etc.),

  • Lastly and most importantly, the elderly (65 plus) and those with an underlying health condition, or those frequently in contact with the aforementioned even if otherwise healthy (e.g. family-carers, nursing home workers)

If you have tested positive

If a person has been tested positive for COVID-19 then they should not, under any circumstances, attend any congregational prayers.

Those Exempt From Congregational Prayers

Brothers and sisters who fall into the categories mentioned above are considered exempt from attending Jummah and Congregational prayers and can pray at home.

Listening to IANL Khutbahs and Halaqas

If you are not attending the Masjid you can continue to listen to the Khutbah’s and Halaqas live using the Listen Live service. You can also catchup and listen to past recordings on our IANL Podcast.

Attending Congregational Prayers

Those attending prayers are encouraged to:

  • Make Wudhu before arriving at the masjid
  • Bring a prayer mat
  • Limit physical contact with others as much as possible
  • Wash your hands before arriving and when leaving the mosque
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth until you have cleaned your hands
  • Avoid opening doors with your hands. Use your elbows if you are able to
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with your sleeve or a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin
  • Pray any extra prayers such as Sunnah and Nawafil at home

Remembrance of Allah

It is important to remember that Allah is ultimately in control of what happens and that:

Say: “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector”: and on Allah let the Believers put their trust. – Quran 9:51

Duas

Some Duas to make:

I seek refuge with Allah’s perfect words from the evil of what He has created (say three times)

In the Name of Allah, Who with His Name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing (say three times)

O Allah, I ask for your pardon and well-being in this life and hereafter, and I ask for your pardon in my religious and worldly affairs, in my family and my wealth. O Allāh veil my weaknesses and my dismays. O Allah preserve me from my front and back, and from my left and right, and from above, and I seek refuge in your greatness from being taken from below
