Community Chaplaincy and Pastoral Counselling Service

Pastoral Counselling Service

Finchley Mosque (IANL) is committed to supporting the holistic well-being of its community through the establishment of a Community Chaplaincy & Pastoral Counselling Service. This service responds to the growing need for accessible, culturally sensitive, and faith-informed emotional and pastoral support for Muslims facing personal, family, emotional, and spiritual challenges.

Community Chaplaincy Service

The Community Chaplaincy service integrates Islamic counselling principles with contemporary, evidence-based approaches, ensuring support that is both professionally informed and rooted in Islamic values. It aims to provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where individuals can explore difficulties, strengthen resilience, and seek guidance aligned with their faith.

Our Islamic and Evidence-Based Approach

Recognising the importance of integrating an Islamic perspective into counselling for Muslims, our approach is holistic, taking into account faith, culture, family dynamics, and psychological well-being. While a range of counselling models exist, our Islamic counselling framework is centred on the belief that human beings are born with an innate spirituality (fitra).

The Concept of Fitra

Community Chaplaincy supports individuals in reconnecting with their fitra, fostering self-awareness, emotional balance, and spiritual well-being in alignment with Islamic teachings. Alongside this, contemporary evidence-based practices are used to ensure ethical, reflective, and effective pastoral support.
