What is the Community Zakat Programme?
The Community Zakat Programme is a partnership between the Islamic Association of North London (IANL) and the National Zakat Foundation (NZF). It provides direct financial support to Muslim individuals and families in the Barnet area who are facing financial hardship.
If your application is approved, you will receive a payment voucher you can collect from any Post Office. The minimum grant amount depends on your household:

How does it work?
From application to payment is usually 1 to 2 weeks. Here’s what happens at each step:
1 – Check your eligibility
Answer a few simple questions to see if this programme may be able to help you.
- You are Muslim
- You live in the London Borough of Barnet or surrounding areas (N2, N3, N11, N12, N20, NW4, NW7, NW11, HA8, EN4, EN5)
- You have a Bank Balance below the Nisab threshold. (Check todays Nisab Threshold)
- You have not received a Community Zakat Programme grant from any organisation in the last 12 months
- Be able to provide valid Photo ID and supporting documents.
- Apply as one of the following:
- A single person
- A single parent with up to 4 children under 18.
- A couple with or without children (up to 4 children under 18)
2 – Apply Online
Complete the online application. IANL will review and provide fedback on eligibility.
3 – Book an appointment
If we expect you to be eligible, we will email you a link to make a booking at Finchley Mosque for your assessment.
4 – Prepare your documents
You must bring the necessary documents to your assessment in order for us to process the application. (NB. No need to cite documents listed elsewhere).
5 – Application review
Attend your appointment as above.
6- Receive your support
If approved, you will receive a secure payment link by email within 1–2 weeks to collect your grant at any Post Office.
