SHIFĀ: The Cure — a free Sūrah al-Fātiḥah course
We say it in every unit of every prayer. At least seventeen times a day, most of us recite Sūrah al-Fātiḥah — and yet, for many of us, the meanings pass by faster than the words themselves.
On Saturday 24 October, Imam Hasan will be leading SHIFĀ: The Cure, a three-hour course at IANL exploring the sūrah we return to more than any other.
What the course covers
Al-Fātiḥah is known by many names — The Opening, The Mother of the Book, and, in a narration well known to scholars, a cure. Across the afternoon we’ll work through the sūrah verse by verse: what each line means, why it is ordered the way it is, and what it asks of the one reciting it.
The focus is practical as much as scholarly. What does it change about your prayer when you understand that you are being answered, line by line? What does it mean to ask for guidance to the straight path, seventeen times a day, and then step back out into an ordinary week?
The session is pitched for everyone — you don’t need Arabic or prior study to follow along.
