How to Approach the Sunnah — a free course on Hadith and the Sunnah
“Is the Qur’an alone enough?” It’s a question many of us have come across — in a clip on social media, a conversation at work, or a quiet doubt of our own. And it opens onto others: what exactly is the Sunnah, why does Hadith matter, and how are we meant to make sense of it all today?
On Saturday 28 November, Mufti Abdul-Malik Sheikh will lead How to Approach the Sunnah, a free afternoon course at IANL that takes these questions seriously and answers them with knowledge, clarity and care.
What the course covers
Across the afternoon, we’ll explore:
- Is the Qur’an alone enough?
- What is the role of Hadith in understanding Islam?
- What is the Sunnah, and why does it matter?
- How do we understand and evaluate Hadith?
- How should we approach Hadith and the Sunnah in our age?
- How did the early generations approach the Qur’an and Sunnah?
- What should we do when a Hadith appears to conflict with our understanding of the Qur’an?
- How can we navigate doubts and contemporary challenges with knowledge and confidence?
The aim isn’t to win arguments — it’s to build understanding, so that you can approach the Qur’an and Sunnah with confidence and respond to doubts, your own or other people’s, from a place of knowledge. Whether you have questions you’ve never quite found answers to, or simply want firmer footing, this afternoon is for you. No prior study is needed.
