Another Virtual Eid

The Masjid is close to reopening however the Masjid will not be ready to perfom Eid Salaat this week. We will perform a Virtual Eid again with events throughout the day. Please see below for the schedule of events.

When is Eid?

Eid Al-Adha will take place on Friday 31 July.

Sunan

Similarly to Eid Al-Fitr earlier this year Eid will be a non-traditional experience. However it’s important to uphold the normal practices of Eid such as wearing your best or newest clothes, taking a ritual bath specifically for Eid, wearing the finest perfume and eating after Fajr.

All of these were practices of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

Zakat

Pay your Qurbani

Please arrange your Qurbani as appropriate.

Streaming of Eid Takbeerat

From 9am we will be streaming Takbeerat on YouTube. You can also download the Takbeers from our website here.

Praying Eid at Home

Due to current government guidelines on social distancing we will be unable to host Eid at IANL or any other place. You are encouraged to pray Eid at home with your families insha’Allah or individually if you do not have anyone else to pray with. This applies to both men and women.

You can pray your Eid prayers from shortly after sunrise until Dhuhr time but the earlier you pray the better.

How to pray Eid

Step 1: Make the intention to perform Eid prayer

Step 2: Give the opening takbeer (‘Allahu Akbar’)

Step 3: Say the opening supplication quietly to yourself

Step 4: Give 6 more takbeers, raising your hands to your shoulders for each

Step 5: Recite Surah al-Fatihah and an additional surah loudly not quietly

Step 6: Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ while moving into ruku and complete the prayer cycle as usual

Step 7: Rise from prostration from the 1st prayer cycle saying “Allahu Akbar”. Then give 5 additional Takbeers.

Step 8: Recite Surah al-Fatihah and an additional surah

Step 9: Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ while moving into ruku and complete the prayer cycle as usual

Note: there is usually a Khutba (sermon) after the Eid prayers, like the Khutba of Jummah, but this does not need to be done when praying at home.
